Now that you have created your lesson, it is time to start thinking about the materials you will need to make sure that the lesson is successful. By the end of this module, you will be able to apply thoughtful criteria for selecting materials in your mainstream classroom meet input and cognition demands , adapt materials for ELLs using a word level, sentence level and text level analysis, modify existing text to provide linguistic access to your ELLs, create materials to provide linguistic access to your ELLs and strategically select and adapt materials in lesson planning with your ELL in mind.

Model Your Expectations Before you begin your lesson, make sure that you teach and model your expectations for the lesson. Actively Engage Students Children learn by doing, not just by hearing.

Each activity must be related to the objectives of the lesson and there must be progression and coherence within the lesson. Written exercises can be given in small proportion during lesson in the classroom if necessary.

However, most written exercises should be given as homework if possible and they will be reviewed in the next lesson. Teachers must cater to all types of learners the classroom. We need to deliver the lesson orally, visually, and kinesthetically as well as utilize the classroom facilities and teaching aids such that every activity can capture the attention of every learner type oral, visual or kinesthetic.
