Hi A, if you didn't go the last time you visited Tokyo , how about Yokohama , which takes less than 1 hour to go from Tokyo? Minato Mirai bay area offers great architecture and fabulous views day and night to take photos of and it's got good places to eat including their chinatown. Or perhaps you could even visit Kyoto and Nara for nights, they have so much to see always and never bore you you can take Shinkansen from Shin-Yokohama station too.
I have visited Seoul once but I honestly think 5 nights might be too long for Seoul; my stay was actually 2 nights only but we didn't find it too short as it had few attractions. If neither, Hong Kong sounds like a place for you too : Have a lovely holiday. Tokyo is awesome and I'm returning again instead of going to Seoul. I love the Japanese culture and history regardless of the expense plus the Ghibli muesum is a massive lure! The cultures are different, although Seoul is better bang for buck.
Kansai denizens are just unique, they have their own foodie culture and it is very easy to get form one part of town to the other. I live in Tokyo , and I've been to Seoul several times, and I think it's an interesting city. It's less expensive than in Tokyo, and food are genuinely Korean spicy hot, beefy. I like it. It is a bit too industrial like Manchester or Birmingham in UK, but I haven't been in the suburbs or in deep exploration for historical sites, so I am not so sure.
